Back to the roots
It was a strange feeling when I first entered the hotel. The place where I spent my trainee-time, it was homely, familiar and exciting all at once. New challenges, old friends and new team members are waiting for me and I just enjoyed being there.
Now I can see the differences to the life I had in New Zealand. Completely different and I don't regret to have returned home. But I miss New Zealand so much:
- the sunrise in Matauri Bay
- my daily swim in the sea after running along the beach
- bbq with my friends
- Harry, the night porter, taxiing me with the golf cart to my car
- after work swimming in the moonlit pool... ups, don't tell Jay
- the sea view while polishing cutlery ;-)
- watching out for lost golfers with the binoculars during cocktail hour
- "What's up, Julia!"
- running the "Board" in the boiling hot kitchen at Kauri Cliffs
- working young horses with Grant
- galloping along the lonely beaches of the Westcoast
- worship at Frontline Church in Kerikeri
- "The Rock" radio station
- "Coronation Street"- haha, JOKE, we have the "Lindenstrasse" here
- our neighbour John, his jetski and all his good looking friends from Auckland
- the Bay of Islands
- "Toooday, we'll make the hottie doggie.."
- cleaning for fussy maniac Jake
- playing "Shit head" in the "Quiet lounge"
- forbidden Lunch-Group in the Mousetrap
- Esmae's famous cheesecake, yummy
-the one (!) freshly caught Kahawai after 5 hours in a small rowing boat with Alex ;-)
- ficicious- synomym for sarcastic
- my teacher Cailey: "Auf gehts, Deutsche"
- Burgers of the "Beachhouse"
- Kiwi humor
- dead possums on the side of the road- no no no
- my old Mitsubishi Stationwagon with the big oil leak- good luck Gaetan
- afternoon after work drinks at the Top Shop
- PEANUT-BUTTER!!!
- and last you all know it:
marshmallow filled, chocolate covered CHOCOLATE FISH
- and so on
Nonetheless it's good to be home... somehow ;-)
Sing with me:
I don't knoooow, I don't know!
And, Magnus, I know you are probably ways behind in writing your diary, and no- I can't remember what we did on the last friday of october, but I would be very happy to hear from you ;-)
